The Reds three-man midfield of Wijnaldum, Henderson, and Lallana worked well with the frontline of Coutinho, Firmino, and Mane while often flooding the midfield with numbers. It was some average interplay in the initial stages that hampered any real progress, however this began to change with Lallana working well in attack too.
There were real positive signs in attack by the end and although the team conceded three goals, their attacking endeavors paid dividends securing a difficult away tie and a stellar start to the season.
After a beautiful start, it was an ugly second match that has dampened high spirits. There is plenty to improve ahead of their next matches against Burton on Tuesday and Spurs on the weekend.
